Welcome to CIS102 term 200809

AS you know, each one of us will need to work well with customers; whether they be internal (co-workers) or external customers. What experience do you have working with customers? Do you possess excellent customer service skills? How effective are you in dealing with difficult customer situations?

Anyone interested in a job or career in technical support? (Interesting enough, there are many job opportunities in this area.)

I really haven't made up my mind if that is something I may be interested in. My customer service skills are somewhat rusty. When I improve these skills, I may apply. For right now, I'll probably just hide and do my web design from afar.

While I believe that I have excellent customer service skill I have to say that I have never had to deal with one of those totally irate customers where all they want to do is vent. I have dealt with socially challenged customer and some customer that were about as sharp as a marble and I find myself to be very patient and understanding. Obviously empathy is the key to understanding the customer's point of view. Understand that though an issue may seem trivial to you, that user may have been dealing with it for a prolonged period of time.

As a non-talkative person and having no exprience in customer service, I hope to have learn new skills.

Well, I would have to say I've never written a customer service manual before so that will be my expectation for this class, learning how to write my own customer service manual...
